Worker Designation – This role is designated as a remote role. You will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. Although this role is designated as remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. Any requests to come to the office would be communicated with you in advance.

What does it take to be successful in this role?

• Strong knowledge of writing principles, English grammar, and spelling to create, edit, and/or proofread professional-quality training materials that effectively communicate with the chosen audience

Instructional Learning Consultant

• Strong knowledge of instructional software options for creation and presentation of training curriculum

 

• Extensive knowledge of how current adult learning theory applies to developing curriculum designed for adult learning

 

• Strong knowledge of formats, standards, and best practices for the design and development of various forms of training materials such as online, web-based, classroom, or video

 

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills to effectively interact with internal customers by facilitating meetings and providing relevant feedback and input to topic or concern being discussed/reviewed

 

• Ability to successfully lead projects

 

• Ability to coach, provide feedback, and guide trainers on training content and presentation approaches

 

• Ability to collaborate with business unit management on issues, to determine if training is the correct remedy, and to recommend appropriate training, communication or other solution for the business

 

• Proficient in Microsoft Office with intermediate proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint and with advanced proficiency in Word

Education & Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree In education, instructional design, English, communications, journalism, or a related field
  • Six years of professional job-related work experience
  • Five years of experience as a web-based content developer
  • Three to four years of experience with script writing, voice talent, video creation and video editing, and graphic design with proven customer impact

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• For training content creation and execution, gathers primary and/or secondary data and information, compiles and prepares responses, understands products and projects, and identifies audience needs; determines the most effective approach for training delivery; writes, drafts, edits, and revises documents to meet deadlines; prepares and reviews appropriate relevant materials to ensure that all communications are routed through the appropriate channels for review and approval before finalizing training content.

• Conducts training and onboarding for new trainers and coordinators, mentors trainers, and conducts train-the-trainer sessions to prepare trainers for delivery of new instructional material; conducts new leader training for business units and teaches other classes, as needed.

 

• Develops and conducts specialized training via blended delivery methods to include, Instructorled Training (ILT), Virtual Instructor-led (VIL), webinars, and video.

 

• Facilitates the development, design, and production of online training products; creates layout design using appropriate software; writes material including but not limited to, internal announcements, proposals, newsletters, technical and administrative publications, system/product/process documentation, project plans and proposals, training manuals, training modules, etc.; devises and implements procedures that ensure accurate and timely communication, documentation, and archiving of information; tracks and analyzes response rates to communications; adheres to guidelines established by management regarding style, layout, etc., of documents; ensures all online content posted to the internet/intranet meet corporate requirements.

 

• Edits, proofreads, and/or coordinates production of assigned materials (such as proposals, training manuals, statistical reports, memos, project scope documents, procedures, policy manuals, new letters, presentations, etc.); determines relevance of general information to keep documentation current; stays abreast of overall department activities and projects; accepts source documents and creates documentation in the desired format; controls distribution of documentation as authorized.

 

• Analyzes, develops and delivers content and learning design strategies while applying learning methodologies and virtual learning methodologies.

Instructional Learning Consultant

• Prepares various reports for management and operations’ leaders; collaborates with business unit leaders to identify, evaluate, and execute major projects to advance learning; performs root cause analysis to pinpoint the reason for an issue, and determines if training is the correct remedy; designs and implements corrective instruction content; collaborates with the best resource, and provides support, as needed.

 

• May create databases for housing training data and content; assists in maintaining the database for lesson plans; performs quality checks for lesson plans.

 

• Researches and evaluates software for various training content format needs.

 

• Develops innovative solutions for content presentation; performs research related to learning techniques; stays abreast of trends in the market for learning design; performs content audits, gap analysis, content style guides, and content migration plans.

 

• Leads special projects and serves as a project team member for major initiatives.

 

• Performs other duties as assigned.

This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. The range has been created in good faith based on information known to Aflac at the time of the posting.  Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case. This salary range does not include any potential incentive pay or benefits, however, such information will be provided separately when appropriate. The salary range for this position is $57,000 to $145,000.
