Organizational Overview:

The Connectivity organization is responsible for the design and implementation of resilient networking across Synchrony’s environments.  This includes connectivity for our Datacenters, Remote Sites, Third Parties, and Cloud Platforms as well as DNS and Remote Access services.  This organization services both internal and external customers to provide a seamless connectivity experience for Synchrony’s users and product offerings.

Role Summary/Purpose:

We are seeking a Technical Product Owner to lead our Network Security Services Team and its products.  The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, have experience working in a matrixed environment with technical engineering and development teams, strong project management and Agile skills with a focus on Next Generation Firewall products.  The candidate should have a proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget and with low business impact. This position will report to the VP, Network Security & Facilities Product Manager.

This position is remote, where you have the option to work from home. On occasion we may request for you to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events. AVP, Technical Product Owner – NSS (L11)

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as technical Product Owner for Network Security products.
  • Palo Alto firewalls (Physical and Virtual)
  • Palo Alto Panorama
  • Palo Alto Global Protect
• Provide leadership and forward thinking of Network Security solutions to support both internal and external requirements.
  • Collaborate with prospective users and clients to understand and anticipate business needs and translate them into product requirements.
  • Define the vision and road map for the Network Security products.
  • Technical leadership of engineering objectives for the deployment and servicing of Network Security solutions, overseeing all stages of design/development.
  • Partner with engineering and business teams to resolve connectivity issues, solve business needs and drive outcomes.

• Manage and maintain engineering standards for supported products.
  • Serve as owner for team technical job aids.
  • Maintain product certification for supported products.
  • Assist with Compliance/Audit activities for supported products.
  • Plan and manage technology lifecycle events – end of life, end of support for supported products.
• Agile team leadership of the Network Security Solutions team.
  • Lead Program Increment (PI) Planning for the product team.
  • Participate in Scrum meetings, and product Sprints.
  • Assist in Agile story development.
  • Manage product backlog/prioritization.
  • Monitor progress of changes/enhancements to the product.
  • Act as Liaison with the product team and end-users to deliver updates.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

• Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of experience OR in lieu of degree; high school diploma/GED and 8+ years of Project Management and/or product based experience
• A minimum of 2 years of Agile project management experience, preferably IT Project Management
• 2+ years of experience leading engineering projects

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

• Strong technical background in Palo Alto Firewalls.
• Strong project management experience with a record of delivering on time and across functions.
• Experience with Agile software development framework, acting in the Product Owner role.
• Excellent analytical and presentation skills within all levels of the organization. Able to effectively communicate and influence all leadership levels of Synchrony and its partners.
• Experience with AWS/Azure Public Cloud solutions.
• High energy, self-motivated, with strong communication skills and experience working with external clients & technical development teams.
• Curiosity and passion for learning about new technologies and identifying ways to drive innovation.
• Experience in the credit card or financial services industry. Strong background of enterprise networking, routers/switches, circuit technologies.
• Understanding of Aviatrix Cloud Networking and Equinix Network Edge Services.
• Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Python 3.x, Ansible and Terraform. Understanding of GIT source control management.

• Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of experience OR in lieu of degree; high school diploma/GED and 8+ years of Project Management and/or product based experience
• A minimum of 2 years of Agile project management experience, preferably IT Project Management
