Summary of Position:

Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

The Senior Backend Engineer with Django/Python and DevOps (AWS) experience will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable and robust backend systems for our dynamic and growing platform. This individual will be responsible for the development of high-quality backend applications and services, ensuring their performance, scalability, and security.

The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical specifications, with a strong emphasis on innovation and efficiency. The ideal candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy, leveraging their expertise to guide decision-making and problem-solving processes, while also mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

System Architecture and Development: Design and implement scalable and efficient backend services using Django/Python, ensuring code quality and maintainability. Lead the integration of front-end elements with server-side logic and functionalities.
Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps: Manage AWS cloud infrastructure, including setup, deployment, and monitoring of services, ensuring high availability and performance. Implement automation tools and frameworks for continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
Database Management: Design and manage database schemas, ensuring data integrity, performance, and security. Optimize queries and implement caching mechanisms to enhance application performance.
API Development and Integration: Develop RESTful APIs and integrate third-party services and APIs, ensuring seamless data exchange and functionality across different systems.
Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain security best practices for backend services, including data protection, authentication, and authorization. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Team Leadership and Collaboration: Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team’s knowledge-sharing efforts. Collaborate with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet business objectives.

Qualifications

Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS certifications) are a plus.
Required Experience: At least 5 years of experience in backend development, with a strong focus on Django/Python. Proven track record in developing scalable and secure web applications.
DevOps Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in managing AWS cloud infrastructure and implementing DevOps practices, including automation, CI/CD, and monitoring.
Database Management: Strong experience in database design and optimization.
Leadership and Collaboration: Experience in leading projects and mentoring junior developers. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment.

Physical Requirements:

Senior Backend Engineer (Remote)

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the Senior Backend Engineer to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.

This is a position which requires the Senior Backend Engineer frequent walking, standing and climbing of stairs in/around homes, models and properties. Must also have the ability to operate computer

equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.
